Faculty-Student Delegation from King Mongkut's University of Technology, Thailand Visits NFU — Exploring Aviation Industry Technology and Talent Cultivation

A faculty-student delegation from King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL), Thailand, concluded a three-day academic exchange visit at National Formosa University on 2/21 (Friday). Led by Dr. Pititat Itsariyapinyo, Executive Vice Dean of KMITL's International Aviation Academy, the delegation of 27 faculty and students visited NFU's Department of Aircraft Engineering and Aircraft Maintenance Training Center, focusing on aviation-specific technology and talent cultivation, laying the groundwork for future collaboration.

During the visit, NFU's Aircraft Maintenance Training Center arranged hands-on aircraft maintenance courses, including "Safety Wiring for Bolts," "Cable Tensioning Operations," and "Hands-On Practice with Solid Rivets on Aluminum Sheets," to strengthen students' understanding of aviation technology. The Department of Aircraft Engineering, meanwhile, led students through courses on unmanned aerial vehicles, including "Introduction and Hands-On Practice with Fixed-Wing Drones" and "Introduction to CubeSats and Satellite Tracking Technology," guiding students in exploring applications within the aerospace industry.

The KMITL delegation also visited NFU's "Advanced Drone Manufacturing and Testing Laboratory," located at the Asia Drone AI Innovation Application R&D Center in Chiayi, learning about the drone design, manufacturing, testing, and verification processes, as well as the large-scale low-speed wind tunnel equipment, and how it is applied in drone R&D.

In addition, the Thai faculty and students engaged in exchange with NFU's Department of Industrial Management's "Lean Smart Manufacturing Laboratory," gaining further insight into how smart technology can optimize industrial productivity and carbon reduction management through the "Lean Manufacturing and Carbon Footprint Inventory Monitoring System," "Low-Carbon Diagnostics and Carbon Emission Management Technology," "Robotic Arm Applications," and "Factory Simulation Technology."
 
This exchange not only deepened KMITL faculty and students' understanding of NFU, but also laid a solid foundation for future collaboration between the two universities. It is anticipated that more Thai students will participate in short-term exchange programs next semester, further broadening the international perspectives of students from both universities and promoting talent cultivation and development within the aviation industry.
