The Aircraft Maintenance Training Center of National Formosa University held the graduation ceremony for the 7th Aircraft Maintenance Engineer CAT B1.1 License Certification Program on June 26 (Friday). All 24 trainees successfully completed two years of professional training and were recruited by leading aviation companies, including STARLUX Airlines, China Airlines, and Evergreen Aviation Technologies. During the ceremony, graduates also participated in the Aircraft Maintenance Personnel Oath Ceremony, symbolizing their official commitment to safeguarding flight safety and demonstrating the University's and the aviation industry's shared determination to cultivate highly qualified aviation safety professionals.
National Formosa University stated that its Aircraft Maintenance Training Center was officially certified by the Civil Aviation Administration of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications in 2019, becoming the first training institution in Taiwan to meet the updated Civil Aviation Regulations for B1 basic training. By integrating the educational resources of the Department of Aircraft Engineering, the Center delivers a modular curriculum that combines Aircraft Maintenance Engineer theoretical examinations, hands-on practical training, and degree education to cultivate aviation maintenance professionals in accordance with civil aviation regulations and industry standards.
Approximately 200 guests, including parents and representatives from the aviation industry, attended the graduation ceremony. The oath was administered by Mr. Li Kun-Hu, an instructor at the Aircraft Maintenance Training Center. All graduates pledged that throughout their future careers in aircraft maintenance, they would uphold the highest standards of professional knowledge, technical expertise, and sound judgment, never approving any parts or procedures that fail to meet required standards. They also vowed to carry out every maintenance procedure with precision and integrity, ensuring that every maintenance release can withstand professional scrutiny while protecting flight safety.
NFU President Hsin-Liang Chang emphasized that the essence of aircraft maintenance lies in unwavering adherence to procedures, standards, and discipline, as even the smallest oversight may compromise flight safety. He noted that the University has invested more than 20 years in aircraft maintenance education, hoping graduates will bring not only professional certifications into the workplace but also the disciplined work habits, risk awareness, and sense of responsibility developed through rigorous training. Even under time pressure, maintenance personnel must strictly follow every required procedure and take responsibility for every professional decision they make.
Mr. Wang Chih-Kai, Associate Vice President of the Maintenance Division at STARLUX Airlines, remarked that after completing basic training, trainees must still pass practical skill examinations, aircraft type training, and on-the-job training before they are fully qualified to perform maintenance work independently. He emphasized that aircraft maintenance requires discipline, teamwork, and continuous learning, encouraging graduates to embrace future challenges with a positive, optimistic, self-disciplined, and proactive attitude while putting aviation safety principles into practice in every maintenance operation.
NFU further noted that aviation companies have continued to invest in talent development in recent years. In addition to providing each trainee with a scholarship of NT$120,000 during the training period, outstanding students are eligible for an additional NT$50,000 merit award. Upon graduation, participants are offered employment opportunities with annual salaries exceeding one million New Taiwan Dollars. Through close industry-academia collaboration, the University and its corporate partners have established a comprehensive talent development pathway covering training, internships, and employment, jointly cultivating professional aircraft maintenance personnel who meet the demands of the international aviation industry.
Representatives from China Airlines, STARLUX Airlines, Evergreen Aviation Technologies, United Airlines, Mandarin Airlines, and AirAsia Engine Services also attended the graduation ceremony. The University presented certificates of appreciation to recognize the aviation industry's long-term commitment to talent cultivation and its continued support for strengthening industry-academia collaboration through high-standard training programs dedicated to safeguarding flight safety.
