National Formosa University held an international seminar on 4/10 (Thursday), specially inviting H.E. Ambassador Dr. Robert Lewis, Ambassador of Saint Lucia — one of Taiwan's diplomatic allies — to give a talk on campus, sharing Saint Lucia's history, culture, and educational development, and promoting educational and cultural exchange between Taiwan and Saint Lucia.
In his welcoming remarks, NFU President Chang Hsin-Liang stated that Saint Lucia is a country of scenic beauty and cultural diversity, and also the home of two Nobel laureates. He expressed his honor at having this opportunity for exchange, emphasizing that the visit not only deepens mutual understanding of diverse cultures, but also serves as an important opportunity to promote cultural and academic cooperation.
Ambassador Lewis took a special test ride in a self-driving vehicle, and toured the "Smart Machinery and Cutting Processing Experimental Plant" and the "Biotechnology Pilot Plant." He also expressed high praise for NFU's dual-track talent cultivation model in aviation, which combines professional technical education, academic degrees, and Aircraft Maintenance Engineer license training.
Ambassador Lewis stated that Taiwan and Saint Lucia share many years of diplomatic friendship and place equal importance on talent cultivation. He expressed hope that NFU will continue to offer diverse courses and learning resources in the future, attracting students from Saint Lucia to study in Taiwan, further strengthening bilateral educational exchange and friendly relations.
