In order to deepen the integration of technical and vocational education with the machine tool industry and cultivate the professional technical talent needed by industry, National Formosa University partnered with Fair Friend Group, the Yun-Chia-Nan Branch of the Workforce Development Agency, Ministry of Labor, and 16 technical and vocational senior high schools from northern, central, and southern Taiwan on 9/10 (Wednesday) to jointly sign a "Strategic Alliance Memorandum of Cooperation," building a cross-disciplinary talent cultivation platform together and deepening collaboration among government, industry, academia, and training.
This collaboration spans a three-year period, during which the alliance will progressively roll out various initiatives. Concrete areas of cooperation include internship matching, industry mentorship, skills competitions, and hands-on training, implementing a three-way connection between businesses, universities of technology, and vocational high schools to form a talent cultivation model driven jointly by government, industry, academia, and training. Participating institutions, in addition to NFU, Fair Friend Group, and the Yun-Chia-Nan Branch, include 16 technical and vocational schools: New Taipei Municipal Industrial Vocational High School, Muzha Vocational High School, Hsinchu Industrial Vocational High School, Taichung Industrial Vocational High School, Puli Industrial Vocational High School, Tsaotun Vocational High School, National Changhua Normal University Affiliated Vocational High School, Xiushui Vocational High School, Yuanlin Vocational High School, Silo Vocational High School, Huwei Vocational High School, Chiayi Industrial Vocational High School, Xinying Vocational High School, Beimen Vocational High School, National Cheng Kung University Affiliated Senior Industrial Vocational School, and Kaohsiung Municipal Industrial Vocational High School.
NFU President Chang Hsin-Liang stated that since the alliance's establishment in 2015, it has gradually demonstrated the effectiveness of government-industry-academia-training collaboration, growing from an initial 6 schools to 11, and now expanding to today's 16 schools, showing that this talent cultivation model continues to gain recognition and support from all sectors. He noted that beyond cultivating technical talent for the machine tool industry, the alliance also helps expand the impact of academic research, industry collaboration, and local resource integration, further advancing industrial upgrading and sustainable development.
Huang Wei-Yi, Chairman of Fair Friend Group's Machine Tool Business Group, stated that Fair Friend places great importance on the continuation and deepening of this strategic alliance. He expressed gratitude to all partner members for their long-term support, and warmly welcomed the new members joining the alliance. He expressed hope that through the sharing and integration of resources, the alliance can continue to promote industry-academia collaboration, cultivate technical talent for the machine tool industry, jointly strengthen Taiwan's industrial competitiveness, and move together toward a higher-value future.
Liu Pang-Tung, Director of the Yun-Chia-Nan Branch of the Workforce Development Agency, Ministry of Labor, stated that Taiwan's machine tool industry has, over the course of several decades, continuously developed toward higher value-added and higher-end machine tool equipment. The Yun-Chia-Nan Branch is committed to cultivating talent to support industrial development and upgrading, enhancing professional competencies through vocational training in response to industry changes, and becoming an important driver of corporate transformation. Through the coordinated efforts of government resources connecting industry, government, academia, research, and training, the branch continues to plan and organize skills competitions, and to strengthen close exchange and collaboration between industry and technical/vocational schools, using talent cultivation to enhance technical innovation and industrial breakthroughs in the face of unstable market conditions.
In addition, the strategic alliance will also hold the "Academic Year 114 Fair Friend Group / National Formosa University / Yun-Chia-Nan Branch National Industrial Category Hands-On Skills Competition" and awards ceremony on October 16–17, at the Yun-Chia-Nan Branch of the Workforce Development Agency, Ministry of Labor. It is hoped that through the incentive of competition and talent selection, students' hands-on and R&D capabilities can be enhanced, achieving the goal of seamlessly connecting talent cultivation with industry needs.
