National Formosa University held the "Arts in Bloom — Academic Year 114 Arts and Culture Festival Opening and Music Talk-and-Sing Session" on 4/21 (Monday). Rising millennial singer-songwriter Lu Yun opened NFU's month-long Arts and Culture Festival series of events through music and storytelling.
The opening ceremony was held at NFU's newly renovated concert hall, inviting students to be among the first to experience the freshly upgraded venue. The student club "Street Dance Club" kicked off the event with an energetic youthful dance performance, followed by Lu Yun, who shared his personal creative journey and musical philosophy through a talk-and-sing format, offering students a taste of the diverse artistic atmosphere on campus.
NFU President Chang Hsin-Liang stated that the university invested NT$4 million starting two years ago to renovate the Student Activity Center, and has continued to invest NT$8 million to upgrade the concert hall venue. This year, an additional NT$6 million has been allocated to upgrade the concert hall's lighting, sound, and audio equipment, with the goal of providing a multi-functional performance venue so that students can appreciate beautiful things beyond their professional studies. He stated, "Listen to good music, see beautiful things, speak kind words," expressing his hope that education can help cultivate students into professionals who possess both expertise and warmth.

NFU Dean of Student Affairs Lin Yi-Chuan stated that the Arts and Culture Festival was jointly planned by student clubs, extending beyond the campus to venues across Yunlin's cultural landscape, including the Huwei Central Broadcasting Digital Audiovisual Base, the plaza in front of Dounan Train Station, and the Douliu Xingqi Memorial Hall, with the hope of using the creative energy of young students to connect and weave together the region's cultural fabric. He noted that the fear of "being replaced by AI" has become a widespread anxiety today, and encouraged students to participate in clubs, using interaction and collaboration with strangers to create experiences that AI cannot replicate.
NFU's Arts and Culture Festival features student club showcases, music festivals, singing competitions, dance performances, and more, including the Fu Chih Youth Club's "Mother's Day Card — Passing on Gratitude," the Fervent Guitar Club's "Guitar Appreciation Night," the Tiger Sound Wind Band Club's "Music, Resounding — A Musical Movement Concert" and "The Tune of Chapter 41 — Showcase," the Hip-Hop Research Club's "Cloud Tiger Hall — Tiger's Roar, Cloud's Rise," the Popular Music Club's "June Revolution," a singing competition jointly organized by seven departments, the Flame Fire Dance Club's "Hungry Ghost Dance Exhibition," and the Balance Audio Control Club's "What Are You Honking About?! Showcase," among other events, continuing from today through 5/25 (Sunday). Faculty, students, and local residents are all warmly invited to join in this celebration of arts and culture.
