In order to promote academic and industrial collaboration between Taiwan and Thailand in the field of functional foods, the "Functional Food Hub of Talent for Competitive Advantage of Thailand" visited NFU on 3/17 (Monday), led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Pomthong Malakul Na Ayudhaya, Secretary-General of the Council of University Presidents of Thailand (CUPT), together with a delegation of 30 members, to engage in research exchange on biotechnology development between Taiwan and Thailand.
The "Functional Food Hub of Talent for Competitive Advantage of Thailand" operates under the Council of University Presidents of Thailand (CUPT), dedicated to connecting Thailand's public and private sectors to advance functional food development and independent raw material R&D. Delegation members visiting the university included representatives from the Thai Parliament, the Food and Drug Administration under Thailand's Ministry of Public Health, the National Science and Technology Development Agency, the Biotechnology Society, Chulalongkorn University, King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi, the Thailand Functional Food Innovation Center, and Thai Agri Foods, among others, working to advance global innovative research in functional foods, cultivate talent, and establish an expert database to enhance industry competitiveness.
NFU President Chang Hsin-Liang and the Thai biotech leaders and experts discussed the distinctive raw materials and technologies of Taiwan and Thailand, combined with NFU's strengths in biological research and industry-academia collaboration, exploring the possibility of jointly developing new types of functional foods, with hopes of pursuing innovative research together in the future.
The Thai functional food experts also toured NFU's "Biotechnology Product Pilot Plant" and "Agricultural Product Testing Center," gaining firsthand insight into NFU's integrated achievements in product innovation and development, testing technology, and biotechnology manufacturing processes, as well as its food safety testing capabilities and agricultural quality control capacity. Both parties expressed hope for continued exchange in the future, working together to open a new chapter for the functional food industry.
