National Formosa University held the "Rotary Educational Foundation Scholarship" presentation ceremony on 3/5 (Thursday), with the Huwei East Rotary Club presenting the scholarships on campus. A total of 4 NFU master's students each received a scholarship of NT$135,000. In addition to the 3 spots provided by the Rotary Educational Foundation, Rotary International District 3470 Assistant Governor Wu Yu-Tien also generously donated funds to add 1 additional scholarship spot, supporting outstanding students to study with peace of mind, continue deepening their research, and give back to society in the future.
NFU President Chang Hsin-Liang stated that, as an important platform for higher education, the university has long been committed to sharing educational resources and public value, and to sharing its campus spaces and facilities with society. NFU also actively connects with Rotary clubs, medical institutions, and public interest groups from various sectors, giving students more opportunities to participate in public service, thereby cultivating social responsibility and humanistic values.
Chang emphasized that the purpose of education cannot be limited to the pursuit of economic achievement alone, but must also cultivate humanistic depth, so that students, beyond their professional expertise, develop the ability to care for others and give back to society. He encouraged the award-winning students to continue advancing in their academic research and professional fields, and to contribute what they have learned to society in the future, exercising the influence and value of the younger generation.
The "Rotary Educational Foundation Scholarship" was established by the Rotary Educational Foundation of China. Through recommendations from various Rotary clubs, outstanding master's and doctoral students are selected to receive scholarships that help them complete their studies and academic research, with the hope of encouraging young people to deepen their academic pursuits and cultivating outstanding talent.
Rotary International District 3470 Assistant Governor Wu Yu-Tien stated that Rotary has long been committed to promoting education and talent cultivation, hoping to encourage outstanding students to continue advancing their knowledge and research through scholarships. He also encouraged the students to uphold the Rotary spirit of "service to humanity" while focusing on their studies, and to use their expertise to give back to society in their respective professional fields in the future. He also stated that he will continue to support talent cultivation through concrete action, and pledged to sponsor one graduate student scholarship spot at NFU every year, helping outstanding students study with peace of mind.
Huwei East Rotary Club President Wang Ching-Chang stated that the Rotary Educational Foundation's funds come from the joint contributions of Rotary club members, coordinated and allocated by the foundation, with each club submitting applications to ensure resources reach the students who truly need them. This year, through the active efforts of the Assistant Governor and Deputy Assistant Governor, this gift of goodwill was specially directed to National Formosa University, with the hope that the scholarships will bring the students support and strength.
This year's award recipients include Su Wei-Sheng and Su Fu-Yi, both second-year master's students in the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering; Lin Pei-Chen, a second-year master's student in the Department of Electrical Engineering; and Lin En, a first-year master's student in the Department of Electronic Engineering. Su Fu-Yi, a second-year master's student in Computer Science and Information Engineering, stated that he will invest the scholarship into his research field, and hopes that once he has the ability to do so in the future, he too can give back to others. Lin Pei-Chen, a second-year master's student in Electrical Engineering, stated that this scholarship not only allows him to complete his studies with peace of mind, but also gives him the opportunity to explore other fields of learning and develop diverse interests, and expressed hope of continuing this cycle of goodwill in the future.
