National Formosa University's Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering held a scholarship presentation ceremony on 5/23 (Friday), with outstanding alumnus Ho Tzu-Jou, founder of the company "Jinde Steel Group," donating funds to establish a special scholarship program aimed at helping economically disadvantaged students maintain stable enrollment, and encouraging younger students to continue pursuing excellence in both academics and character development. This year, Jinde Steel Group once again contributed an additional NT$100,000 to the scholarship fund, bringing the total cumulative donation to NT$200,000, reflecting the alumnus-founded company's long-term commitment to educational philanthropy and giving back to its alma mater.
Ho Tzu-Jou, Manager of Jinde Steel Group, is a graduate of NFU's Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering and was named an Outstanding Alumnus in Academic Year 112. He stated that through this scholarship program, he hopes to support younger students who show potential but face limited resources, helping them overcome hardship and courageously pursue their dreams. He also hopes to lead by example through concrete action, inspiring more companies to invest in educational outreach and jointly cultivate the future backbone of society.
Professor Chang Chao-Yang of the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering, who also served as Manager Ho's academic advisor during his time as a student, thanked Jinde Steel Group in his remarks for its care and support of students, and encouraged the scholarship recipients to transform this encouragement into motivation to move forward, giving back to society and putting their knowledge and skills to good use in the future.
Jinde Steel Group first donated NT$100,000 in 2021 to establish the special scholarship fund for the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering, and has now contributed an additional NT$100,000, continuing to support economically disadvantaged students. To date, the fund has cumulatively supported 20 students, reflecting the positive synergy created when businesses and academia work hand in hand.
