In order to bridge the gap between academia and industry and implement the cultivation of smart manufacturing talent, Cadgraphics Technology and Siemens Software Taiwan recently formally signed a "Designcenter™ Solid Edge® Design and Manufacturing Software Industry-Academia Cooperation Agreement" with the College of Engineering at National Formosa University. Through the establishment of a certification center and curriculum integration, the two parties will jointly cultivate 3D digital design talent with international competitiveness.

As the cradle of precision machinery and smart manufacturing talent in central Taiwan, National Formosa University's College of Engineering, led by Dean Huang Tzu-Kuei, is committed to advancing practical teaching across the college's seven departments and strengthening industry-academia collaboration. This partnership introduces the Designcenter Solid Edge digital development platform, providing 200 software licenses to give students comprehensive training spanning parts modeling, assembly design, CAE simulation analysis, and precision machining, ensuring seamless alignment with industry needs.

Designcenter Solid Edge's Synchronous Technology allows students to master the following while still in school: High-performance modeling: combining the advantages of parametric and history-free modeling to quickly respond to design changes. Production line simulation: using digital twin technology to perform interference checks and stress analysis before actual production. International certification: helping students obtain CSEA certification to increase their competitiveness in the job market.

Chen Hao-Chang, Chairman and General Manager of Siemens Software Taiwan, stated, "Through this collaboration with National Formosa University, we are bringing the industry's latest design thinking back into the classroom, working together to advance the digital transformation of Taiwan's precision machinery industry." He added that the program provides credible certification to help close the skills gap in the digital transformation process and cultivate the talent pool of the future. Certification is not merely an accumulation of credentials, but also builds professional confidence, validates technical capability, and ensures that professionals maintain their competitiveness in the market. In July 2025, Siemens launched a brand-new "Expedite – Industry Skills Microcredential" course on the Coursera platform, covering industry fundamentals, design and manufacturing (PLM), emerging technologies, as well as business thinking and core skills. The course was carefully designed based on feedback from customers and partners, using AI virtual mentors and scenario-based learning to provide an interactive learning experience.

Yu Liang-Hsien, General Manager of Cadgraphics Technology, stated that in response to the demands of the smart manufacturing transformation, Cadgraphics Technology is committed to introducing the industry-leading Designcenter Solid Edge solution into campus training. By providing a software environment synchronized with real-world industrial settings, students can experience the actual development process and technical challenges while still in school.

Yu emphasized that the core goal of this initiative is to bridge the gap between academia and industry, ensuring that students possess solid practical capabilities before they even leave school, truly achieving the talent cultivation vision of being "job-ready upon graduation."
