NFU Department of Multimedia Design On-Campus Graduation Exhibition "Z.IP" Kicks Off

 National Formosa University's Department of Multimedia Design held the opening ceremony for its 20th on-campus graduation exhibition, "Z.IP," on 3/19 (Wednesday). The exhibition's theme is inspired by the concept of "digital natives," exploring how Generation Z seeks to define their own identity amid an ever-changing era, and encouraging the younger generation to build confidence amid a landscape of diverse values.

The exhibition's concept draws on the popular slang phrase "DELULU IS THE SOLULU," where "Delulu" and "Solulu" are playful abbreviations of "Delusion" and "Solution," conveying the belief that "when facing difficulty, as long as you dare to dream and break free from convention, everyone can find their own solution." Highlighted feature works include the 3D game "Sacrifice," the 2D animation "Through Others' Mouths," and the audio picture book "Gulin the Lazybones."

"Sacrifice" is a first-person horror puzzle game in which players take on the role of a cult member who has wandered into a perilous situation. Set against a dim and eerie backdrop, the game lets players seek a way to survive amid mounting danger, offering an immersive, heart-pounding sense of dread. "Through Others' Mouths" combines soft visuals with a tense atmosphere, creating a striking contrast between cuteness and the grotesque, while also portraying the psychological state of people who suppress themselves in pursuit of a sense of belonging.

The audio picture book "Gulin the Lazybones," meanwhile, uses an e-book format with voice acting for its characters and animated illustrations, breaking through the limitations of a physical book through digital technology and demonstrating digital value-added enhancement, offering audiences a different reading experience.

The event opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony jointly performed by NFU Dean of Student Affairs Lin Yi-Chuan, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences Peng Chi-Chung, and Chair of the Department of Multimedia Design Chu Wen-Hao. Dean of Student Affairs Lin Yi-Chuan praised the students for their tremendous effort since their sophomore year, showcasing both professionalism and creativity, and encouraged the graduating students to bravely face future challenges and shine in the workplace.

Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences Peng Chi-Chung stated that the capstone project outcomes also reflect the university's investment in equipment and resources, noting that next year's Ministry of Education Practicum Site Program will focus on the Department of Multimedia Design, with hopes of continued resource investment to build an even better learning environment for students. Chair of the Department of Multimedia Design Chu Wen-Hao encouraged students, noting that this on-campus exhibition is only the starting point — the students will go on to compete in national-level exhibitions such as the "Young Designers' Exhibition" in Taipei and the "Kaohsiung FASDC (Fantastic Animation, Style, and Design Contest)," expressing hope that students will showcase their creativity and skill on an even bigger stage and achieve outstanding results.

This exhibition spans a variety of creative categories including animation, games, film/video, and visual design, showcasing students' professional development and innovative thinking accumulated throughout their studies. On-site, visitors can immerse themselves in a rich and diverse world of creative works through flat displays, video screenings, and interactive experiences, with a dedicated hands-on area set up for game works, inviting the public to personally experience the students' carefully crafted designs. The exhibition runs from today through 3/21, in the 1st floor lobby of Building 3, open from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. All are warmly welcome to visit.
